PacSim by Marcus Version 1.0 1989
---------------- ----------------
Well here it is. I wanted to add some more features to the program
but I kept putting them off so long I decided to release it 'as is'.
This is another (just what I needed you say?) Pac Man type game. I have
seen some other Public Domain games of this type and I think this is
definately one of the best. It features multichannel sounds, drop
down menus, joystick or keypad control, a built-in maze editor, scoring,
etc. etc. etc.
There are a couple of features I would like to mention. For one, the
maze editor may seem a little strange at first but it works logically.
The Ghost shapes, for example, are cycled as they are painted. Also,
the program expects there to be a 'maze00.dat' file in the current dir.
If there isn't one - don't expect much to happen. Every game starts with
this maze and increments by one to the next (maze00.dat, maze01.dat...
maze02.dat, ... maze99.dat). Scoring works this way: 1 point per dot,
5 points per power pill, ghosts 100, 250, 800, 1000. When the score is
more than 5000 a new man is given and the score is set back to zero.
Of course there is a CHEAT mode which proved so useful in debugging the
program that it seemed like a great idea to leave it in.
